Today marks the last day of my Japanese class. The adventure was one I will never forget. I know that from the beginning I told my journal readers that I would post an entry every class so you could learn as well; well I'm sorry that I abandoned you. It was just a lot of work for no comments, no thanks, no nothing. I know that it helps me because it's "practicing", but technically saying the stuff out loud on my own has helped me so much more! Anyways,

I'm thankful that I got the opportunity to take this class and thankful that I was lucky enough to get into this teacher's class. I don't think I would have enjoyed Japanese if I had gotten a mean teacher or a teacher who didn't have a sense of humor. I appreciate all that she has done and I couldn't have asked for a better teacher.

I remember day one where I sat in the back and got scared that I was in the wrong class, how I sat there counting how many Asians there were, and how we all had to announce to the class the reason we wanted to take it.  Each day I would come to class ready to learn more, but it wasn't for a while until I made new friends. I won't forget meeting these people; in fact I won't forget all these people in my class. They were like another family to me. I felt that no matter how many mistakes I made, these students would always shake it off. They wouldn't laugh at you, and if they did it was in a friendly gesture. They were all so nice and I wish I had the chance to get to know all of them, but sadly the closest it got was when my friends and I were talking and they overheard our conversation and just joined in. None the less, I'm glad that I was in this class...I know a lot of people say "I'm glad class is over." or "I won't miss anyone." but for me, I always miss the classes I take, especially when you feel you have such a close bond with them. If I were back in middle school, I would have had to force my tears to stay in, but this time I knew that it wasn't a forever goodbye. That one day our paths would cross again. Even if I didn't have the chance to add them all on facebook, I know that fate will bring us back.

From day one to the last day;
From meeting one person to knowing the whole class;
From the jokes we made and the laughter we shared;
From the things we learned to the things we reviewed;
I know I will miss this class the most. <3
Thank you for allowing me to take this class. It was an AMAZING experience with Japanese.

Now, how to make sure I don't forget it until I start Japanese 2? haha! Practice, practice, practice. Even if it's on your own! Better than nothing!

Bye~

Never on

2 min read
As you've probably noticed, or maybe not, I haven't been on here lately. I just feel that it's kind of pointless...I know there were a lot of people who came on here to read my BTR fan fictions or maybe enjoy some photography, but I just haven't had the time to type more or even upload them onto here. I occasionally will check this site just for the kick of seeing how many messages I've gathered up over the months, but other than that I won't be replying or uploading anything new. As of right now 11/19/11 I have 10,693 messages minus two from a hater.

Anyway, that's all for this update. If you really enjoyed talking to me and getting to know me, I'm always on twitter,

Always remember that I love everyone who has taken the time to like my stuff! It means a lot that I actually have fans of my story! Maybe in the near future I'll have time to finish up that fan-fiction and upload new ones, maybe onto another site. But thank you for supporting me from Chapter  1! <3

Xoxo,NA

ps, if any of you play Hanging with friends, send me your username through one of the links above. :] thanks!

pps, I have officially put all my work into storage and I might or might not come back. So, again, if you enjoyed talking to me, hit me up on twitter. I don't bite, I promise! :]

For those who follow me, my twitter is no longer "AZNutellabtr" it's not "Maslownatasha" and I don't know how long I'll keep it. I might change it again because I get bored of things quickly, but for now if you're looking for me, you can find me under that! Thanks!

This story is based on my real life and the relation it has to the anime/manga Nana. Before you say anything mean, just read the story! :]

When I was a junior in high school, I was your typical high school girl; self-conscious, shy, trying to be popular, and just wanted to get through with school everyday. Then one day, after switching into my aerobics class, I saw this Asian girl in my class. From my perspective she looked like any other Asian girl at my school. I wanted to be her friend so when I got home I added her on facebook, don't ask how I knew her name because right now I, myself, can't remember how I found her on facebook. Well after I added her, I happened to post a status that said "I want to be a foreign exchange student in Japan." and she commented it and told me about she was an exchange student. I was actually in shock when she said this, so I quickly went to her profile and saw that her info said "I'm an exchange student from Taiwan and will be going back on (date)." I don't remember the exact date she went back, it was like July 3rd or something. Anyways, after we had spoken for a while on facebook, the next time I saw her in my aerobics class she approached me out of nowhere and started to talk to me. When she spoke slowly, I somewhat understood her, but when she began speaking fast I was like "Uh huh...-nods-" When really I didn't catch anything she said. Before I knew it she was like "Ok, I'll talk to you later." and ran off. I was like "o_o what?!" haha!

Skipping ahead. When I got to know Angel, that's her name, even more I started to begin to understand her better. With that in mind, we began to speak more and more and one day we were talking about Japan. Somehow the Anime/Manga, Nana, came up and we had that conversation. (I think it was when we were talking on facebook, I had said she was like Nana and to my surprise she actually knew what I was talking about.) So skipping along in the story, it was near the end of the year. Angel has fallen head over heels for this one guy and they had started "dating". With that being said, she skipped an aerobics class just to be with him during lunch and after only dating him for like two days she would say to me "Why isn't he picking up my calls? I've called him like 10 times and he hasn't picked up his phone!" To my response I would say "Don't sound too desperate. Call him once and if he doesn't pick up don't spam his phone." She agreed with me, but would still pretend cry and ask "Why are boys so stupid?" For that question, I couldn't answer it. Before I knew it, I felt like I was living the life of "Nana" and "Hachiko".  I was "Nana Osaki" while she was "Nana Komatsu".

I'll admit, I was NOTHING like Nana O. I wasn't in a popular rock band, I wasn't even popular in general. I didn't dress up like her, play guitar, or smoke cigarettes. But emotion and personality wise, I guess I kind of was like her. While Angel, on the other hand, had the EXACT personality/emotion as Hachiko did. Angel was popular, loud, upbeat, crazy, making friends everywhere she went, and she was always looking for that perfect "boyfriend". While she was looking for that perfect guy, I was sitting around trying to protect her and comfort her from the pain those guys would cause her later. I had to play it tough, she was like a little sister to me. While I didn't care about guys or wanting a boyfriend, she was running around like a little dog. Haha.

From that day forward, Angel and I would always call each other "Nana" and "Hachiko". We planned to cosplay as them once, but it never happened. Hopefully when I see her again, we can reunite!

And that's my story...even though it didn't really fully relate to the anime/manga, but whatever. xD

The End.

Day 14 10/6/11

Hello once again! :] I'm back with another lesson! Today's lesson will be classmates, nationalities, languages, and introduction to Kanji. はじめましょう!

くらすめえと = classmate
ともだち= friend
だいがく= university
だいがくせい= college student

By the way, from this day forward we will no longer be using romaji. So study those characters :].  I will type in English for dialogues because sometimes the characters looks squished when on the computer.

Dialogue we learned today:

Yamaguchi: Kono hito wa dare desu ka. (Who is this person?)
Kawamura: Sono hito wa Buraun-san desu. (That's Ms. Brown.)
Yamaguchi: Daigaku no kurasumeeto desu ka. (Is she (your) classmate at the university?)
Kawamura: Hai, soo desu. (Yes, that's right.)

"Kono" is the same as "Kore"
"Sono" is the same as "Sore"

Country Nationality Language
Japan- にほん               にほんじん                  にほんご
USA- アメリカ                 アメリカじん                 えいご (This is "eigo" because we don't speak "American" in America. We speak "English")

Dialogue:

Kawamura: Kono hito wa Chin meirin-san desu. (This is Ms. Mei-Lin Chin.)
Yamagushi: Chin-san wa Chuugoku-jin desu ka.(Is Ms. Chin Chinese?)
Kawamura: Hai, soo desu. Chuugoku-go o hanashimasu. (Yes, that's right. She speaks Chinese.)

Asking someone of their nationality is "Nanijin desuka." but it's very rude to ask someone directly.

Alright, now let's learn Kanji! Let me give you some pointers before I start. My teacher told us that we will be learning around 50 kanji characters this semester and that you can't learn all the kanji characters in one year. Learning 50 in class and then when you're on your own, you can learn up to 1000 if you're serious. On that note, she gave us advice that you shouldn't worry about how many characters there are. Don't worry, every Kanji has the same meaning, but a different pronunciation depending on the context.

I'll have you know that kanji originally started off as pictographs.
木- Tree
日- Sun

So if  木 is "Tree"
木木 would be woods
and

木木 would be forest.

Now, there are two different kinds of Kanjis "Kun" and "On".
Kun is the Japanese writing and On is Chinese. The way you can tell if it's Japanese or Chinese is by the context.
Example: 日本 would be Chinese based because there are two Kanji characters together.
While 名まえ would be Japanese based because there is Kanji mixed with hiragana. The Kanji stands alone while the Chinese originated does NOT stand alone.

日 the meaning is sun or day
本 the meaning is base or origin
学 the meaning is learn or study (my teacher said, the marks on top are the lights, the horizontal line is like a school and under it are students.)
生 the meaning is life, birth, or meaning.
名 the meaning is name.

"日本" would literally translate to "origin of the sun."
I'm sorry that I don't have a way to show you how to write these "Kanji" characters, but if anyone has an idea of how to do that please feel free to tell me! :]

Here's what I have to do for homework,
日本
学生
学こう
名まえ
and write them at least 20 times.

しつもんがありますか

Good luck!
